Positive Material Identification – NDE & Pressure Testing

Material traceability is critical in today’s valve manufacturing industry. It is also critical for after-market industrial valve modification or repair. United Valve utilizes two XRF analyzers to confirm that every piece of pressure containing raw material or critical component is exactly as specified. No critical piece of raw material is released for production without first receiving a positive material identification (PMI) verification. In addition to daily in-house quality control duties, our PMI machines are used to complete purchase order requirements.

For PMI testing, our personnel have been trained to perform examinations in accordance with the following standards:

• API RP578, “Guidelines for a Material Verification Program (MVP) for New and Existing Assets”
• MSS SP137, “Quality Standard for Positive Material Identification of Metal Valves, Flanges, Fittings, and Other Piping Components”
